Is everyone enjoying Cyber Monday?  Remember, it’s your patriotic duty to keep this economic engine moving.  As “W” said, he wants us to go shopping.

Mike Coffman, the Republican from CO-6, will be holding a telephone town hall on Wednesday.  Details can be found at www.denverpost.com/… and I presume his website as well.  After you’ve called to let your federal legislators know not to pass that tax cut bill, please call in and let Mike Coffman have it for voting for the House bill P.O.S.

In other news, Thanksgiving was the order of the last few days.  Here we entertained my wife’s son and his girlfriend.  We split the cost of the tickets to get them here.  We also had a couple and their two adult children over for the dinner and a game of “Cards Against Humanity” afterwards.  We had a very good dinner — Turkey and ham, along with stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, green beans with garbanzos, sausage and almonds (it worked, trust me), my homemade brandied cranberry sauce, my homemade apple pie, store bought pumpkin and blueberry pies, with ice cream, whipped cream and, yes, chocolate syrup as desired.  Everything really turned out incredibly well.

If you’ve never played “Cards Against Humanity” it’s a game designed to have people take questions and then the players play a card from their hand trying to fill in the blank(s) and make funny or outrageous answers to the questions/statements.  It is very adult-themed, with sexually explicit and violent answers mixed in with sweet answers.  You can download it for free from the website or purchase the pre-made cards.  There’s no way to keep it from being very adult, so you should know your fellow players are okay with that before beginning.  Keep a smartphone handy to help you look up some of the phrases you might not be familiar with, as there is slang and there are terms I still wish I didn’t know existed.  Anyway, the people who put it out are not center, right or left in political terms (they’re equal opportunity comedians), but they do allow with some of the answers (e.g. “Our first chimpanzee president”) for people to declare their own bigotries, which proved interesting in learning a bit more about our guests.  Fortunately, we didn’t have any outright Trumpists, but we did have a couple comments that reminded me that one of our guests from Louisiana likely has non-equal opinions on non-whites.

My son-in-law decided that he would ask his girlfriend of several years to marry him, so the next morning I went out to get the menu he decided upon and my wife took him to help him find an engagement ring.  They were successful and over appetizers for the dinner, he said he had to go out to get the drink he had left in the kitchen, stumbled to the floor, asked his girlfriend for help getting back up and when she came over to him he held up the ring.  Utter surprise and she did say “yes”.  This was captured on a video and they immediately shared photos and the video on Facebook.  He said he decided he wanted to ask her in front of his mother and me and I appreciated the family moment (I nearly botched my “question” several years ago) and not having any children, this is kind of the only opportunity I’ll have to experience that.  Very neat.

Well, what happened for you over this past week, or what (besides the town hall) are you looking forward to in the near future?
