Sorry about last week. Lots of stuff going on, and I just plum forgot. Again, if anyone would like to help me with this series, especially on a regular basis, please let me know.
What was going on? Well, one of the major things was a brand new addition to the family. We weren’t planning on it, but someone found a Cocker Spaniel puppy and posted a notice to the Nextdoor app looking for its owner. My wife said she wished we could have it since Cocker Spaniels are cute, especially as puppies. Well, the finders couldn’t keep it since they had a 1 month and a 2 year old at home, so they let us take it, check it for a chip (nope), and do whatever else we could do to find the proper owners.
Well, we’ve had her for over a week now and we still haven’t found the owners. Checking with multiple pounds, including DDFL, hasn’t turned up any Cocker Spaniels as having gone missing, there are no signs posted in the area where she was found, and we now consider her ours. I’ve never had a puppy before — all of my woozles have been at least 18 months old (or multiple years older). Right now, Ginger is joining our family with the 10 year old Bichon-Schnauzer mix and the 14 year old Yorkie. And the 2 year old cat, who isn’t up to being chased. She likes chasing the Yorkie because the Yorkie wanted to chase her when she was a little kitten and she’s bigger than he is now. This puppy, otoh, is way too energetic and is a match for the cat in size. Great colors, cute as heck face and a non-docked tail which is unusual for a Cocker (and I don’t like the thought of mutilating a dog for any reason).
Also, I now have a new job starting on April 2nd. I’ll be working computer help desk for a company in the Denver Tech Center and because of my experience, they changed the job from entry level to “Senior” and offered me a higher wage. It will be nice to be back on benefits and engaged with other people during the day (or evenings, as the case may be).
On a couple of issues a little closer to DKos, I was pleased to receive a T-shirt in the mail, unbidden. I’m not even quite sure which of a couple of different companies it may have come from. I’ve ordered a political T-shirt from the DKos company and one from a company that read “Only You Can Resist Fascist Liars” with Smokey the Bear and the National Park Service symbol. I figure it came from one of them because it was a black T-shirt with big white block letters saying “Worst. President. Ever.” I’ll have to wear it to a couple of meet-ups. And around town. But not to the new job.
A couple of Colorado vehicles to nod or shake your head at:
This truck does a great job of symbolizing the state of the Republican party. DOR (Dead on Road) I didn’t put the caption on this, but it’s possible to tell it’s a Colorado plate. I don’t even understand all of these.Don’t forget, there will be a Caffeinating Liberally on a different date this month. Usually, it’s the fourth Saturday morning, but for multiple reasons, it has been pushed back to the 31st (the fifth Saturday). It will be from 9AM to noonish at Common Grounds Coffeeshop, 44th and Vallejo in Denver’s Highlands. I don’t know whether I’ll be able to attend, but I believe both Leftcandid and Jenn will be there to host.
What’s going on in your corner of the state? Are you going to your county caucus? Are you working/volunteering for a candidate or other political entity? Did you or your family participate in any of the school walkouts last week?
