Colorado State Open Thread: DROP OFF YOUR BALLOT AND VOLUNTEER ALREADY

Hi folks!

I am too busy managing a State House race to write a lot, and so I am Open Threading to provide a few key points of information about voting and volunteering.

TODAY was the LAST DAY to mail in your ballot and be absolutely sure it will be received by 7pm on Tuesday the 6th.  Can you get away with mailing it later and having good odds it will be received?  Yeah, but why chance it.  If you didn’t mail it today, DROP IT OFF.

IF you did not receive a ballot in the mail, your voter registration might be inactive — this is usually due to having changed address and not updating your voting address.  You are STILL eligible to vote despite what a certain Palast Report might have mistakenly referred to as a purge; you just need to vote in person.  In-person early voting is ON.

To register to vote though Election Day, obtain a ballot now through Election Day, and to vote early in person through Election Day, or drop off a ballot, visit justvotecolorado.org to find the nearest location to you in your County.

That’s the Voting Part.

VOLUNTEERING

I cannot stress enough that voter contact volunteerism is needed, and easier than ever for introverts with the rise of texting-based voter outreach.  The Colorado Democratic Party and Colorado Working Families are both using texting outreach to Get Out The Vote.  Sure, some people will reply with abuse, but you can laugh at it and screenshot it and share it around as a merit badge.  Or use it as motivation to keep going.  Sign up to volunteer with the Colorado Dems here and sign up with Colorado Working Families here.

Of course the most meaningful and impactful volunteer activity remains knocking doors to have face to face conversations.  While it’s true that some folks are grumps, and some folks are Trumps, the vast majority of these interactions are at least neutral, if not outright positive and even uplifting.  You never know who you will impact by giving out some piece of information or perspective.

Candidates and issues in the most need of volunteers:

Faith Winter, Jessie Danielson, Tammy Story — State Senate

These women are most key to taking the Senate and have the hardest, closest races.

These candidates are in the tightest House races to hold or take.
