I’m hoping people aren’t reading this. Instead, I’m hoping they’re taking actions to GOTV. In Colorado, it’s long past time to get ballots in the mail. They need to be dropped off at either a secured ballot box (the nearest one to me is at the Bear Valley Library) or delivered to a polling place tomorrow in person. If anyone in your neighborhood hasn’t voted yet, volunteer to help them get to the polls. I know the campaigns have people who can drive voters to the polls (in all meanings of the word “drive”) and I fully expect the turnout to be very heavy.
I will be getting involved in the political scene up in Estes Park once I am able to get the move behind us and start getting out to meet people. I really have no idea how the politics are up there. It seems that there are lots of people involved in tourism, the small shops and businesses catering to the summer tourists and also a fair number of people who want to preserve the natural heritage of the area. I just don’t know whether they’re the Trumpist kinds of Republicans who want only white Americans to enjoy the park and town or if they’re more progressive folk who want people to come, enjoy, and yet not damage the resource that people came to see. If anyone has any contacts, please either ask them to seek me out or let me know their contact information.
Now, to prove that I know nothing whatsoever, here are my predictions for the results tomorrow night:
Governor — Jared Polis
Attorney General — George Brauchler
Secretary of State — Jena Griswold
Treasurer — ?
CD 1 — Diana DeGette
CD 2 — Joe Neguse
CD 3 — Scott Tipton
CD 4 — Ken Buck
CD 5 — Doug Lamborn
CD 6 — Jason Crow
CD 7 — Ed Perlmutter
Amendment Y & Z — Yes
Amendement 74 — No
Prop 112 — No
I’ll bet I’ll look pretty silly on a few of these Tuesday night. I should know better.
