The Colorado State Open Thread is generally published around 7PM Mondays, though sometimes it gets eaten by the dog and then it will be published the next week.
My wife pointed out an article similar to this to me — A Republican Colorado Senate leader suggests secession over oil and gas.
Republican state Sen. Vicki Marble of Fort Collins has suggested that parts of Colorado secede from the state in response to Democrats’ proposed oil and gas regulations.
Marble, a member of Senate GOP leadership as minority caucus chair, made her pro-secession comments on her Facebook page.
“My recourse is SECEDE,” Marble posted in response to a comment. “Boulder and Denver metro are so removed from the working man’s reality.”
Of course these regulations are in response to the Oil and Gas industry drilling right next door to schools and housing areas, while polluting the air and water. Cities have tried regulating their areas but the state has, until now, overruled these efforts to protect homeowner property values. So, of course, now that the state might try and pass some slight improvement to the regulations, Republican counties are considering taking their private profits and leaving the public holding the bag of pollution and damaged roadways. However, not all is rosy in gasland — apparently the Greeley Tribune polled their county commissioners and 4 out of 5 said secession would be a bad idea.
What nonsense is going on in your corner of our state? Is your county going to be a Sanctuary county to have the Sheriffs refuse to take away guns from disturbed individuals? Are you looking forward to spring? Has your former fence been crashed into by an idiot less than 10 days after the house was sold?
