Weekly Protests in front of Snyder’s Condo Still Ongoing—see story photo from last week’s Michigan Weekly Open Thread.
2thanks has made a good suggestion, namely that protestors try to create a presence around the back of the building, where there is another entrance.
I cannot attend this week or for the next couple of weeks, but I’ll be there in spirit.
Excellent Expanded Timeline of the #FlintWaterCrisis
The Bridge can be frustrating at times, but this is a good compilation: Disaster Day by Day: A detailed Flint crisis timeline (originally posted on 2/14/16 and updated 2/16/16)
YES to a Motor City Kossacks meet-up
I’m still game for Saturday, February 20th from 5:00-7:00 in or near Ypsilanti. My house is probably available for a potluck, in fact—but y’all have to indicate that you’d be interested in coming over and bringing stuff to eat/drink. Also, my household has cats in residence, so we’d need to be mindful of that and be prepared to hop over to a nearby restaurant (which of course we can plan in advance, from among the many options available).
I very much want to get together to discuss voter mobilization efforts in SE Michigan. Voter registration is closed now for the March 8th presidential primary, but there is still time to register for the May primary. Can we please do some skill-sharing and networking in person? NOW is the time to get involved.
Afterwards, we can head out to a concert if we like, assuming tickets are still available. I mentioned that we could hear the jazz group Straight Ahead at the Kerrytown Concert House starting at 8:00 PM. It’s only $15 for general admission seating—a great deal for some excellent music. (I have to admit, I’m also tempted by the Andras Schiff concert at Hill Auditorium that evening, though the inexpensive tickets for it are nearly gone. Please let me know in the comments if you want to hear either one—otherwise I will be making my own purchase tonight.)
So far, I have only tentative yeses:
DoReMI sydneyluv 2thanks BFSkinner and me :)More are welcome! And if you can confirm, please do.
I wish I had time to write more, add more links. One post per week is definitely my limit for now. I will extend this invitation to anyone in the metro Detroit area who is reading: Please pipe up and tell us who you are and what you are doing on the ground in this vitally, crucially important election season. We need every single activist this year, more than ever.
Please help us build this weekly Michigan thread so that it includes any information relevant to turning MI Blue again that you would like me to highlight. MI contributors are always welcome!
