Welcome to the Colorado State Open Thread for Wednesday, 7/27/16.  As always, if anyone wishes to contribute, please feel free to write on whatever is of interest to you today.

I will not be able to participate for awhile — I have a focus group for a couple of hours on some sort of television concern, but it pays $100 so that’s worth it to me.  You folks can have the place to yourselves.  I’ll be back later to clean up.

I just have to share this photo of Leftcandid.  If you wonder why he’s not been around much, he’s been working hard on election issues; this hard work paid off with a go-fer position with the Colorado delegation at the DNC, so that’s where he is right now.  He sent me this picture just a short time ago.

Leftcandid and Bernie in Philadelphia for the DNC on 7/27/16

Leftcandid was very dedicated in his support of Bernie, so this must be a huge moment for him.  Obviously, he’s working very hard and it must be very hot there, even inside.

I’ve been watching the major speeches of the DNC and reading here on DKos to learn the rest of the story.  I confess, I had tears in my eyes yesterday listening on NPR as Wyoming (I think, which would be appropriate as the first state to give women the right to vote) put Hillary over the top in delegates and again as Bernie made his motion to have Hillary declared the nominee by acclamation.  I thought I heard a healthy number of “No’s” when they asked for those who opposed it, but no pundit mentioned that so I must have misheard.  In any event, I’m so happy that this country can see a person for who they are and vote to have that person lead them, without insisting that it only be for the ruling white male power class as it was for all those decades before 2008.  Hillary being elected President will further push the past into the past, and let this country, with all its warts, move into the future where everyone should be able to have an opportunity based upon not the color of their skin, or the chromosomes they bear, but the content of their character.
