Back home at last. A Colorado State Open Thread, 10/11/2021

The Colorado State Open Thread is primarily designed to spur comments and communications about our lovely state.  I was just away for a sixteen day trip so I’m curious to learn what went on in the state while we (including Mrs. ColoTim) were away.  Please let me know down in the comments.

While I was away, I did have the news aggregator app on my phone to keep track of some Colorado news as well as newsletters from Colorado Politics, the Colorado Sun and the Denver Post (as well as national news from the Washington Post and NY Times) so I wasn’t totally protected from blood pressure spikes.  I was able to keep track of what was going on in Estes Park, northern Colorado, Denver and some additional areas of our state.  I did learn about the former chairman of the Colorado Republican Party admitting to stealing $280,000 from a PAC formed to support Donald Trump but at this point, it’s hard for me to feel sorry for anyone involved.  Sure, a PAC to support DJT is hard to feel sorry for, especially when they’re ripped off, but anyone donating to one of those things by this point has to know the chances are very good that their money isn’t going to go where they want it to go, and it’s likely to go into someone’s pocket other than DJT.  The best thing I can think about this is that the guy is going to go to jail.  No, wait, maybe it’s that the money wasn’t spent to get people to vote for the next go-around for DJT or any of his endorsed candidates (read — people willing to bribe him to endorse themselves). Nope, nothing good is going to come out of this and they’d be much better off spending that money on Ivermectin or bleach supplies.

How about you folks? Has anyone had fun these last couple of weeks, with the aspen changing colors, the cooler weather, the calming of the tourist season (except here in Estes where practically every day someone is too close to rutting elk) or any other fall event?  Have you had any snow? I don’t know that it has snowed here, but there has been precipitation and I think snow may well be here this week.  Does anyone have any fun trips coming up where they run the risk of sitting for hours in close quarters in an airplane or other conveyance? Tests indicated nobody on our tour caught Covid 19, but it was a different trip from any we’ve taken in previous years.

It is very nice to be back here in Colorado.  Here are a few trips to give you an idea of where we went.  I’ll be writing a travel diary very soon with more photos.

Some of the windmills on Mykonos

The blue domed churches of Santorini

A palace (Knossos) considerably older than the Cliff Palace at Mesa Verde.  This is about 3700 years old.

Please let me hear your comments down below.  The floor is open...
