Colorado State Open Thread, 6/24/2019. What's your handle mean?

The Colorado State Open Thread is published Monday evenings around 7 PM and is a collective effort by the Kossacks of Colorado.  If anyone would like to contribute, make a comment below, or if you’d like something longer, please let me know and I’d be happy to get you a date to publish something for yourself and fellow Coloradophiles.

This is a diary I’ve been meaning to write for a long time.  I’ve been hoping to get lots of participation, so I encourage you to not just read, but add your entry to it.

A handle can mean a number of things, but in this sense, I’m curious to know why you chose the DailyKos name, or handle, that you did.  I realize some people may be working from their real names; in my case I’m operating from Colorado — my home of almost 30 years, and my real name, Tim.  I wanted to let people know where I am writing from and where I’m pleased to call home.

Others may be using a favorite name of a city (e.g. BillinPortlandMaine), nickname (e.g. Kos), favorite animal (spirit animal?) (e.g. kestrel), favorite slogan, favorite food, or even, favorite political term or politician (I know, whodathunkit?)

I’m just curious every time I see a writer that I like and I’m interested in following, or perhaps even just seeing some of the names that people use, as to just what was the inspiration for those names?  I also like puzzling out license plates to try and figure what someone fit in those 6-8 letters and numbers and that’s a similar challenge.

So please, post a comment below if you care to and let us know why you go by what you go by here at DKos, or even your favorite names for DKos users.  Or just post whatever is on your mind this evening.  It’s an open thread and the floor is yours.

BTW, in case you forgot, ForesterBob and Noble Fur will be making an appearance here in Estes Park this Friday evening.  We’ll have some food and drink to celebrate the occasion, and maybe some Kossacks to join us.  Please let me know through a DKos message or other means if you plan on attending so we can make sure we have enough bed spaces, enough food and other delights.  Hope to see some of you Friday!
